Toyota's Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV was unveiled on July 1 2022. Just like the Toyota Glanza and Maruti Nexa Baleno Twins this Urban cruiser hyryder also shares the platform and engine with the recently launched Maruti Grand Vitara. Basically why Toyota has done this tie up with MUL is to average out its Pollution Emission Norms because all Manufacturers have to balance out a figure of Emission standards and Toyota as we all know had majority of the vehicle with 2.0L Diesel engines so there Emission Graph was going n the Red Flag zone and there are huge penalties of the Manufacturer is unable to balance the same so instead of launching new petrol low emission models Toyota went to Maruti and had this MOU signed to get Maruti Cars with a little tweak and Toyota Badging. The SUV targets the buyers of Hyundai Creta , Kia Seltos, and other Mid Size and Compact SUVs
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Variants & Engine The Mid-size SUV will be available in 4 variants with the NeoDrive 1.5 mild hybrid petrol and 3 variants with the HYBRID 1.5 petrol engine. The NeoDrive versions are called E, S, G and V while the 1.5 strong hybrid verisons are called S, G and V. The latter options come with an automatic transmission while the regular engine gets both manual and automatic transmissions.
All The Engines would only be a Petrol there will be No Diesel Option,
There will be Two Petrol engine options
The first is the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated non turbo engine that powers the XL6 and the Brezza or even the regular Urban Cruiser, This will be called a mild hybrid, this unit has a separate battery for an electric motor that assists the engine, thereby improving fuel economy. This unit produces 102 PS of power and 135Nm of torque. Both 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic will be available along with optional AWD
The Second Engine will be called a Pure Hybrid , Just Like the Toyota Camry , In Urban Cruiser The driver gets an EV only mode , A total output of 115 PS and 122 NM of torque, You may get a practical average of 18-20 KMPL from this Pure EV Version in city conditions
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Features To give tough competition to its Korean rivals the Japanese manufacturer has added features like - Sunroof , Head up Display , Ventilated seats , wireless charging etc , Basically the next gen features which were never a part of Toyotas standard selling models
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Prices The prices have not been announced but we expect it to be priced around Creta so basically staring from 11 Lakhs and going upto 20 lakhs for the top model variant
