At the Auto Expo 2023, the brand-new Seal was unveiled for the first time in India by Chinese EV powerhouse BYD - Build Your Dreams. In developed nations like the US and China, the Tesla Model 3 is fiercely competitive with the Seal, a born-electric sedan.

It has the recognisable revolving infotainment display from BYD.

and has a battery with an 82.5 kWh capacity and a 700 km Ultra long range (CLTC cycle)

Ocean X served as inspiration for the BYD Seal design.

4,800mm long, 1,875mm broad, and 1,460mm tall is how big the Seal is.

The Seal will be introduced in India by the fourth quarter of 2023, and deliveries will start around that time, according to BYD and confirmed price announcement by the end of 2023 , However we think that it should be priced between 55-60 Lakhs * Ex showroom

A coupe-like all-glass roof, flush-fitting door handles, four boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights, split headlamp design, and a full-width LED light bar at the back are just a few of the unique touches found on the Seal.

The BYD Seal features a spinning, 15.6-inch infotainment display in the centre console, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display for the driver, just like the Atto 3 SUV and e6 MPV. The drive selector and a scroll wheel to choose from the different drive modes are located below the floating touchscreen, which is surrounded by the central AC vents.

Basic controls for features like heated windscreens, audio system level controls, and two wireless charging pads are located in the centre console. The inside is as unique and flamboyant as the Atto 3, thanks to the abundance of gloss black inlays, the white dashboard trim that contrasts with them, and the door handles that are integrated into speakers.

The BYD Blade battery technology, which will be used in more EVs in India, is used in the Seal. The Seal has two battery packs: an 82.5kWh unit and a 61.4kWh unit, both of which are based on BYD's e-Platform 3.0. On the Chinese light-vehicle test cycle, the latter has a range of up to 700km while the former has a stated range of 550km. The larger battery has a charging capacity of 150kW, compared to 110kW for the smaller battery.

Globally, there are two different powertrain options for the sedan: single-motor and dual-motor. While the former can be used with any battery, the latter can only be ordered with the larger battery. However, the Seal will be available in India with a dual-motor drivetrain that features all-wheel drive. The electric motors on the front and rear axles each produce 218 horsepower and 312 horsepower, respectively. They generate 530 horsepower when combined, with a claimed 0-100kph timing of 3.8 seconds.
