The updated Hector and Hector Plus SUVs have been introduced by MG Motor in India. The three-row MG Hector Plus facelift has a starting price of Rs 20.80 lakh, while prices for the new MG Hector begin at Rs 14.73 lakh (ex-showroom). Both SUVs are mechanically identical to the pre-facelift vehicles while receiving significantly revised front and rear fascias and a whole new interior.
New front and rear fascias are installed on Hector and Hector Plus.
New 14-inch touchscreen and digital instrument cluster are included inside.
The identical set of gasoline and diesel engines remain in both SUVs.
Facelifts for the MG Hector and Hector Plus: Exterior design
Contrary to the pre-facelift vehicles, which had a slightly different design, the Hector and Hector Plus facelifts are strikingly similar to one another.
The Hector and Hector Plus receive a brand-new fascia up front with strong lines and distinct angles. With a new diamond-like design and an angular chrome rim that seamlessly blends with the high-mounted LED Daytime Running Lamps, the grille has significantly increased in size. Along with receiving a new pentagonal form that echoes the grille, the main headlamp cluster on the bumper now has gloss black surrounds. A new chrome rim for the central air inlet is also added to the front chin.
The upgraded Hector and Hector Plus SUVs include a new tail-lamp assembly with a red strip that connects the lamps at either end that has been modified. With new sharp creases, the rear bumper has also undergone modification. A simpler design with discreet new chrome accents has replaced the former model's dual-tone black and silver finish. However, the exterior of both SUVs is completely unaltered; even the 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels are the same as the phased out vehicles.
Interior and features of the MG Hector and Hector Plus facelift
A larger 14.0-inch touchscreen has been placed into the dashboard of both SUVs, making it the largest touchscreen ever installed in an Indian mass-market vehicle. More horizontal lines and revised D-shaped AC vents have been added to the dashboard, which has also undergone a complete overhaul. The centre console on the Hector and Hector Plus has a faux-aluminum accent, giving the impression that it is flowing down from the infotainment screen. Additionally, the interior finishes of the Hector and Hector Plus are black-silver and black-beige respectively.
Additionally, there are many additional controls, a revised cupholder, and an electric parking button on the centre console. The incorporation of ADAS features on both the Hector and Hector Plus is the feature that has generated the most discussion in terms of features. New features like lane-keep assist, blind spot identification, rear cross-traffic alert, front collision warning, and lane-departure warning are included as a result. Along with updating the 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, MG also updated the iSmart infotainment system.
The Hector is still available in a five-seater layout, while the Hector Plus is available in either six or seven-seater layouts.
MG Hector and Hector Plus: Engine Options
The same 1.5-liter gasoline engine is still available for the Hector and Hector Plus SUVs, and it may be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. This machine has a peak torque of 250Nm and 143hp. Previously, a 48-volt mild hybrid system was also available with this engine. But such are no longer available on the redesigned SUVs. Additionally, the petgrol engine's 7-speed DCT transmission is no longer available.
Its a 2.0-liter diesel engine with 170 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. As before, MG continues to only offer a single six-speed manual gearbox for the Hector diesel. Its high time MG should introduce Automatic Transmission for thr Diesel engine Options as well.
